MDSG Early Career Researcher Distinguished Lecturer Award
MDSG is happy to announce our annual MDSG Early Career Researcher Distinguished Lecturer Award.
This program aims to promote the work of Early Career Researchers (ECRs) working in the field of mineral deposits by fully funding a series of lectures within Great Britain and Ireland. Early in your career it can sometimes be difficult to get the exposure for you and your research, so we seek to assist this process by awarding one individual each year funding to deliver a tour of Great Britain and Ireland, presenting in a number prestigious institutions. Academic and research institutions in GB/Ireland will also be able to apply to host the MDSG ECR lecturer, allowing them to hear about the latest research being undertaken by our ECRs and helping build collaborations across the community.
One ECR will be selected for the program each year based on a combination of their research contributions to the field and their ability to communicate their findings to a broad audience. Once the ECR candidate has been chosen and announced, eligible institutions will be invited to host the seminar within the allocated year of the award. Successful applicants will also be invited to give a keynote lecture at the MDSG’s annual meeting.
To apply, the ECR should complete the application form and email it to mdsguk@gmail.com, together with a 1 page CV and a 1 page covering letter that clearly states why they deserve the award. There is one application round per year, with a deadline of 31st October. Applicants must currently hold a Ph.D, be registered as working at a university or research institution within Great Britain or Ireland, and not currently hold a permanent contract at their institution. For more information on eligibility, the award, and to apply please download the application form from the link below.
