Sponsored Student SEG Fieldtrip to Cornwall
The Bristol SEG Student Chapter trip to Cornwall in October 2017 took place in collaboration with Camborne School of Mines SEG and Oxford SEG with the aim of discovering the regional geology of Cornwall and its mining heritage. The trip began with a fantastic overview presentation of Cornish geology hosted by Camborne School of Mines, laying the groundwork for the rest of the weekend. Saturday consisted of an underground tour of the Rosevale Tin Mine (Zennor, St Ives), lunch in Penzance, and an afternoon at Botallack Tin Mine. There was even a chance to enjoy the Falmouth Beer Festival in the evening. Sunday was a day of “outcrop hopping” around St Agnes and Cligga Head. Both days were led by the hugely knowledgeable Professor Peter Scott, enabling students to learn a great deal over the course of the weekend.
